Beats, Rhymes and Life was not only a name for A Tribe Called Quest album, it was also a Mantra for one of the most eclectic artists out of South Florida, PeschiBoi. Born and Raised in the county of Miami-Dade,Florida, PeschiBoi grew up loving music. “I listened to 8Ball and MJG, Spice-1, Mr. Mike, and UGK, but My favorite rappers are 2Pac and Andre 3000 (from Outkast)” says Alex Mcgriff, also known as PeschiBoi.
Playing the drums in church was an outlet for the young black man from the Miami Gardens neighborhood known as Carol City, who discovered that rapping and making beats was his passion in College. Those Beats, which are a mixture of Soul, laced with blues and original Hip-Hop, are showcased heavily in his latest album “Chapter 44” with his partner in “Crhyme,” AnthemBeats. “I’m from CC (Carol City), Anthem is from Italy so we come from two different backgrounds, two different perspectives. We’ve been working together for 4 to 5 years and together we create a whole different style. We reached out to artists with our music but we were getting back a whole lot of fluff. So we decided to take a chance on me with “Chapter 44”. We draw our inspiration from our experiences.”
Experience is sometimes the best teacher, according to the Goodie Mob, and PeschiBoi can speak on experience. Working with Artists such as YD, Vido NoShake and Desloc from Piccalo, and FloRida, Peschi brings experience to the game, and “Chapter 44” is a testament to this. “It’s a reflection of what I’ve been through. 44 years of chapters that I put into one. It’s Soul, Pain, Hunger, Desperation, Love, Life, and Struggle, with a strong focus on family.”
Music plays a part in our everyday lives, But for PeschiBoi, it’s his Soundtrack. With Songs titled “Target,” “Far Away,” and “Is it Because Im Black?” It would seem that the current issues of today’s world affects not only his literature, but the style of music he delivers. “I make music for the people to hear. Everyday people, The regular person. I listen to the youngsters who tell me if my sound is hot or not. I make mature content, 25 and up, but i’m coming from that uncle standpoint. The Young people today are Woke and their minds are ready for this.”
